It's time to impeach donald trump, our white supremacist president. After the events this past weekend in Charlottesville, VA and his comments on Saturday and Tuesday, it's clear that he is unfit for the office he holds. There were even some republicans who condemned his remarks. But talk is cheap. When will the republican leadership find the courage to initiate impeachment proceedings? How low will despicable donald have to bring our country before they find their courage? McConnell and Ryan are gutless, except when it comes to trying to screw poor people out of their health insurance and provide tax breaks for their wealthy contributors, so nothing is likely to happen.
According to the Washington Post: California Democratic Representative Brad Sherman followed through on threats to file impeachment articles against president trump over a month ago. There remains little indication that the effort will progress in the near future.
I'm reading "Profiles in Courage" for the second time. The first time was about 50 years ago. Written by President John F. Kennedy and published in 1955, Profiles tells the story of "the courage and patriotism of a handful of Americans who at crucial moments in history had revealed a special sort of greatness: men who disregarded dreadful consequences to their public and private lives to do that one thing which seemed right in itself". I just finished reading the chapter about republican Senator Edmund Ross of Kansas who had the courage to vote against the impeachment of President Andrew Johnson. Now the country needs the republican majority to find the courage to impeach despicable donald.
