For me, one of the best things about living in Nashville was the opportunity to go to shows at the Bluebird Cafe. I took advantage of the opportunity to the point where my wife and I attended 100 shows. Since the Bluebird has been here since 1982 and we only moved here as retirees in October of 2006, I'm sure there has to be quite a few individuals who have attended many more than 100 shows. When we lived on Long Island, our most frequently attended music venue was what was known as the Westbury Music Fair. Maybe we saw 15 - 20 shows over the 29 years we lived there but we were working and raising our kids. What music venue have you attended the most frequently?
The Bluebird shows usually featured 4 singer/songwriters in the round. Their website, bluebirdcafe.com, (in the About Us section) describes the BC as "one of the world’s preeminent listening rooms and the venue has gained worldwide recognition as a songwriter’s performance space where the 'heroes behind the hits' perform their own songs, songs that have been recorded by chart-topping artists in all genres of music"... "Our patrons repeatedly tell us that they are captivated by hearing songs performed by the creators themselves and the stories behind how the songs came to be in such a quiet, intimate, and unique venue." I would agree.
The list that follows is almost surely of no interest to anyone but me. The names of artists appearing on the dates shown appeared on the Bluebird website's monthly calendar of shows for the early or late show. Most of the time we went to the late show which was generally from 9 to 11 on Tuesdays to Thursdays and 9:30 to 11:30 on Fridays and Saturday evenings. Besides the regularly scheduled artists, there would often be guest artists who would sing one or two songs. Since their names were not shown, sometimes I never got their names. If I got them, I would add their names to the list in parenthesis. (The last show I saw was James Slater and Special Guests.)

The artists we saw most frequently - primarily Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman and to a lesser degree Don Schlitz, Victoria Shaw and Jim Photoglo - were regular performers at the Bluebird. Some who we only saw once or twice we would like to have seen more often but they weren't regulars. The first time I saw Burr was at a Meldiburpho show in December of 2009. I especially liked his shows performed on the small stage rather than "in the round". While Gary did almost all of the singing, most of those shows also featured his wife, outstanding singer/songwriter Georgia Middleman, and piano player extraordinaire Randy Hart.
Shows each year:
2007 - 9
2008 – 0 (wife's broken leg)
2009 - 10
2010 - 13
2011 - 15
2012 - 14
2013 - 12
2014 - 9
2015 - 6
2016 – 1
2017 – 6
2018 - 2
2019 - 3
total: 100

The reservation system for attending the Bluebird shows was great in the beginning. My wife's very good on the computer so we rarely got shut out of a show we wished to attend. It was in around the middle of 2014 or 2015 that the system changed to Queue-It and it became quite difficult to secure seats. There are not many seats to begin with - less than 90. (When you click on the show, you are given an estimated time of arrival at the reservation site. If you get an arrival time past 8:05 your chances of getting a reservation are not great. The site is supposed to open at 8 am central time. Generally, when 8 am arrives the reservation clock still will say you have 45 to 60 seconds to go even though your computer and phone both indicated that it's already 8 am. (Is this to give favored customers the chance to get in and secure their reservations before the rest of us have a chance? I don't know. )
The biggest Pinocchios of 2016
By Glenn Kessler December 16 at 3:14 AM
It’s time for our annual roundup of the biggest Pinocchios of the year.
Just before the presidential election, we highlighted the most outlandish statements of the campaign. This list is limited to claims we checked in 2016. We also decided to keep the focus on whoppers that the candidates said about themselves or about policy issues, not political attacks.
In the past, we have tried to assemble a relatively equal number of claims by Democrats and Republicans but find that this is impossible this year. Donald Trump earned five of the “biggest Pinocchio” ratings; the previous record was three (President Obama in 2013 and Trump in 2015).
There has never been a serial exaggerator in recent American politics like the president-elect. He not only consistently makes false claims but also repeats them, even though they have been proven wrong. He always insists he is right, no matter how little evidence he has for his claim or how easily his statement is debunked.
During the campaign, Trump earned 59 Four-Pinocchio ratings, compared with seven for Hillary Clinton. Since winning the presidency, Trump has earned four more Four-Pinocchio ratings, and his staff has earned one, as well. Unfortunately, we see little indication that this pattern will change during his presidency.
